Yonsei University Professor of Finance Sam Y. Chung to Lead New AIF APAC Division

AIF announced at its 2023 Annual Investors’ Meeting that it was launching an AIF APAC division with Professor Chung as the Head of AIF APAC. Professor Chung has an unparalleled set of relationships with the South Korean CIOs and senior government officials who oversee the investment of the more than $1.5 trillion US in South Korean pension and sovereign wealth fund assets.

He has served for many years on investment advisory committees of the National Pension Service of Korea (NPS), which is the world’s second largest pension plan with more than $750 billion US in assets, and Korea Post, which is Korea’s second largest pension plan with more than $100 billion US in assets.

Professor Chung is planning to bring a delegation of portfolio managers from NPS to New York City in October 2023. AIF will be holding educational and informational sessions with them in New York City on October 16, 2023.

He will also be bringing a delegation of CIOs from the South Korean public pension plans to New York City in November 2023 for similar sessions with AIF member firms.
